‘Speaking parts’ is a poetry pamphlet by Linda Goulden published on June 8th by Half Moon Books of Otley.
Linda was born Scots and grew up in Manchester but has lived for more than thirty years in Derbyshire and coordinates writer and reader groups in the High Peak. Her words won prizes from Nottingham Poetry and Manchester’s Poets and Players, appear on line, in magazines and in anthologies, are included in artwork by local artists Jean Hobson and Ingrid Katarina Karlsson and have been set to music by Patrick Gundry White, Music Director for the Whaley Bridge Choir.
Linda’s new pamphlet is made up of monologues and dialogues from a range of voices as varied as a queen bee, a newborn baby, a space colonist. There are Derbyshire links with many of the poems such as the voice of the Toad Rock near Hathersage, a child at the Eyam boundary stone during the plague time, Mary Stuart at the Old Hall, Buxton.
Linda has three launch readings planned before this one and is happy to arrange to read elsewhere by invitation.
