Hill Holt Wood, Norton Disney, Lincolnshire, LN69JP
Hill Holt Wood is an environmental social enterprise and registered charity based in 34 acre woodland on the Lincolnshire border with Nottinghamshire. The organisation operates a wide range of enterprises, operating a triple bottom line model and exemplifies ‘benefit stacking’ taking a holistic approach to all activities.
Hill Holt Wood is developing a new initiative; inviting artists working across all art forms to become integral to their wider programme through a new Artist Residency offer.
Join us to open up the dialogue about where the benefits of this might be seen, and help to develop the vision for this pioneering project, the ‘Woodland Artist Studio’.
Having recently obtained planning permission for a major construction project on site, in their 34 acre woodland, Hill Holt Wood are in the process of developing an Artist in Residence programme.
The expansion will result in the construction of three new elements:
The Treehouse – a micro-living unit for use as temporary accommodation for an artist/craftsperson
The Workshop – a multifunctional space for use as a studio
The Log Cabin toilet/shower/sauna – to service both the Treehouse and the Workshop.
All of the structures will be built using innovative construction methods and incorporating off-grid energy systems.
Through the Artist Residency programme, Hill Holt Wood will engage ‘environmentally curious’ artists, who want to use their creativity to make a difference – either to the wider programme at Hill Holt Wood, or within their own practice.
We would like to consult with artists and arts partners about our plans to ensure what we are planning is just right. Help us explore the role of the artist, form our vision statement and aid in the development of a project plan.
Come and join us on Thursday 12th September 2019 and help shape our vision.
