This two-day course introduces the fundamentals of creative writing, skills that writers need to hone if they aspire to master the craft of creative writing. Topics explored include: importance of word choice and sentence construction; the concept of playing with language; good and bad writing; writing effective descriptions and ‘showing versus telling’. It also introduces writers to the three main genres of creative writing – stories, poetry and scripts and offers the chance to try out each form.
The course is a mix of tutor-led teaching, group discussion and writing activities with the chance to share work for feedback. The course is run by widely published author and experienced creative writing tutor Tracey Iceton, PhD (www.trywriting.co.uk). Whether you are just beginning to write creatively or have been doing so for a while this course aims to help you develop your writing craft.
