Central Library, Bishop Street, Leicester
Andrew Bannister will give a sneak preview of his second novel “Iron Gods” days before its official release at the Leicester Writers’ Showcase at Leicester’s Central Library, Bishop Street, Leicester from 6.30pm on Wednesday 17 May. Free entry but booking is advised, phone 0116 299 5401.
“Iron Gods” is a follow up to “Creation Machine”, the first of a series of novels set in The Spin, an ancient, artificial cluster of eighty nine permanent planets and five wanderers on vast, elliptical orbits that bring them back into play every few years. The Spin is in decline, short of resources and fractured by war. The slave-civilsation of the Inside is under seige, its last Major Battle Unit stolen by revolutionaries – and a long-buried memory is about to surface…
Andrew Bannister grew up in Cornwall and settled in Leicestershire. He works in the construction industry and has a serious addicton to vinyl and valves.
City Librarian Matthew Vaughan says, “We launched the Leicester Writers’ Showcase in January 2017 with an event featuring a live poetry reading from the recently published poetry anthology, “Welcome to Leicester”. We are pleased to say the Writers’ Showcase is now a regular fixture in the Leicester Central Library calendar. On a personal note, working in partnership with the such motivated and talented people to put on these events is one of the most exciting projects I’ve been involved in since joining Leicester libraries.”
