Join us in Loughborough for the grand finale. ‘The Lyric Lounge’ celebrates World Mental Health Month and ties up the year in an explosion of words.
A long weekend of exciting workshops, open mics, stimulating food and inspiring shows will take place across Charnwood Musuem and Loughborough Town Hall, from October 2nd to October 4rd. Drink coffee, lounge with books and take in a feast of film and light projections. Lyric Lounge Loughborough is set to transform, unite and play to the galleries.

Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze
Catch newly commissioned work and hang out with The Lounge’s official patron. Internationally acclaimed poet and Lyric Lounge Patron, Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze will be writing, performing and hanging out at The Lounge throughout the festival. Workshop with her on Saturday, lunch with her on Sunday and on Monday night, take in ‘Showcase Live’ – her directorial triumph.

Three’s Company
Enjoy the multi-faceted artwork of Jenny Foster, Rowena Dawson and artist/ psychotherapist, Pat Whitworth. ‘Three’s Company’ examines relationships in a swirl of colour, pattern, form and texture. Write about the show with The Book Doctor and share it with The Lounge.

Lost and Found
Featuring work by some of the most exciting artists in the region, Lost and Found is Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust’s great big ‘Open Art Show’. See how making and looking at art can be a great way to improve well being. Write about the show, pin it up, or perform it to the masses!

The Cafe in the Park
Chill out in the Museum’s Cafe, with coffee, books and interactive poetry projections. Browse through some of the best titles in contemporary poetry, specially bought and donated by Leicester City Libraries. Chill out with a drink or snack. Write poetry, in your own book or on paper tablecloths. Chat to friends, strike a pose, Lyric Lounge Loughborough is in the building.

Tim Clarke
Hang out in the cafe with The Lounge’s ‘Artist in Residence’, Tim Clarke. Draw and paint about poetry – create pictures, then weave them into words. Guranteed to spark your imagination and get you looking in a new way.

Combust Circus
Observe the poetical contortions of ‘Combust Circus’. See them perform at our Steam Punk Poetry Party (Fri 30th July), and hanging out at the museum on Sat July 31st. From stilt walking to fire breathing, Combust Circus will inspire your creativity and transform the museum.

Lost and Found

A writing workshop for children and young people. Explore LPT’s ‘Lost and Found: NHS Open Art Show’ – then write poetry about it with Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze – patron of both exhibition and the Lyric Lounge festival. Perfect for small people with big imaginations!

Lyrical Lunchtime
1pm 2pm, Café & Gallery
Take to the mic in the ‘Lost and Found’ gallery – or be serenaded over lunch by the wonderful ‘Refuge’, a band of lyrically uplifting songwriters and musicians. ‘Refuge’ will be sharing work from their long awaited new album, ahead of its release.

Wile away the evening with ‘WORD!’, the longest running poetry night in the region. Perform your work on the open mic, then watch specially commissioned films bring the work of our booked act poets to life. Months in the making, moments in the watching, not to be missed!

Lyrical Lunchtime – Mood Food

Lunch is on us! Drop in and enjoy our nourishing, FREE buffet of ‘Mood Food!’ From heartwarming soups and stews to moorish cakes and healthy fruit salads. As you eat, we’ll entertain you with the lyrical melodies of Lauren Foster, Rob Miller and a few other special guests.

‘Three’s Company’with The Book Doctor
1pm 3pm, Gallery and Resource Room
Spend the afternoon with Alison Dunne – Leicester Libraries very own ‘Book Doctor’.The good doctor will guide you through the ‘Three’s Company’ art exhibition – and help you to write about it. No experience necessary. A good time guaranteed. All ages welcome.

Monday October 4th
Finale Showcase Live
7pm 9pm, Loughborough Town Hall

Leave the Museum and head to Loughborough Town Hall for an evening of critically acclaimed entertainment. ‘Showcase Live’ will explore the experiences of young men, living in the 21st century. Its cast of culturally diverse poets will examine the themes of the festival;from mental health and relationships to getting lost, and being found. Featured by the BBC, Truetube and BFI (British Film Institute). Directed by renowned, poet and Lounge Patron, Jean ‘Binta’ Breeze.
Don’t miss this grande finale of The Lyric Lounge, 2010.
