Beacon of Light Sunday 11 November 5-8pm at Kedleston Hall
On 11 November 2018, we will be lighting a beacon at Kedleston Hall, one of 1,000 beacons across the country, to commemorate the end of the First World War exactly one hundred years ago, and to remember all those who fought and suffered. Our beacon will be a light of hope for a peaceful future for our community and for those who continue to experience the devastating impact of conflict. We’ve partnered with the Royal British Legion and the award-winning Derbyshire writer Cathy Grindrod to host an evening of reflection and tribute.
Can you write with light? Can you paint a picture with words and use the darkness to write with light?
We’re looking for poems inspired by these words to help us to mark this significant centenary. We’ve partnered with Cathy Grindrod, award-winning writer and former Derbyshire Poet Laureate, who will be judging the entries. The winner of each category will be announced on the evening of the event and presented with a special certificate. The winning poems will also be read at the event.
