Posted on 17th August 2009

Alt.Fiction will launch its new website in September and the date is set for the festival next June at QUAD in Derby with masterclasses in Alt.Fiction and Alt.Fiction author events leading up to the festival in the new year.

We will be celebrating the launch of the new website at QUAD in November. In the meantime do get in touch with articles, extracts, discussion topics and links you would like to see on the website. Please e-mail catherine@writingeastmidlands.co.uk if you want any further information about Alt.Fiction and its future plans.

Background on Alt.Fiction

Alt.Fiction was set up in 2006 as a one-day writing event focussing on the genres of science-fiction, fantasy and horror with a mixture of workshops, readings, discussions and Q+A sessions featuring some of the UK’s top authors in the field, such as Ramsey Campbell, Simon R Green and Simon Clark. The subsequent festivals in 2007 and 2008 saw audiences rise to 250 and brought authors such as Iain Banks, Brian Lumley and Mike Carey.

Writing East Midlands is establishing Alt.Fiction as a ‘brand’ i.e. not just an annual festival but also several high profile events throughout the year such as an Alt. Fiction & film event and workshops for writers.
