TEACHERS & SCHOOLS WANTED TO TAKE PART IN SHAKE THE DUST

Nottingham Playhouse, Writing East Midlands and Mouthy Poets in association with Apples and Snakes present:

Shake the Dust at Lyric Lounge Nottingham

Shake the Dust (www.shakethedust.co.uk) is a national poetry slam taking place in spring and summer 2012 inspiring young people to share their lives, stories and dreams, and giving them a platform from which to speak out.

The Lyric Lounge (www.lyriclounge.co.uk) festival celebrates spoken word by creating relaxed spaces for learning, practicing and performing spoken word and poetry. It is part of Igniting Ambition, the East Midlands’ contribution to the Cultural Olympiad.

We are looking for five schools or youth groups to take part and we’ll be hosting a free teacher training session on Weds 23 November from 4-6pm at the Nottingham Playhouse led by Jacob Sam-La Rose (www.jacobsamlarose.com) aimed specifically at teachers and youth workers who are keen to increase their creativity and develop their skills in supporting young people’s learning through poetry.

To book your place at the free training session, please call the Nottingham Playhouse Box Office: 0115 941 9419 by 16 November.

If you are interested in taking part as one of the school or youth groups please email Catherine@writingeastmidlands.co.uk by 30th November.
