Writing East Midlands exists to help creative writers in the region develop their writing careers and skills.
We work to provide and support training initiatives that develop career opportunities for writers and are accessible and affordable. The courses, workshops, and mentoring programmes that we associate with are led by professional working writers and practitioners.
We help develop the careers of writers in the following ways:
- By raising the profile of writers from the East Midlands with publishers, producers and broadcasters
- By providing critical feedback and mentoring programmes
- By developing courses and training opportunities in conjunction with other organisations
- By developing projects which employ writers and enable them to develop new skills
- By providing writers with information on jobs and opportunities
- By accessing funds for bursaries to support writers creating new work
