Supporting Our Work

We are delighted to have been awarded a further four-years funding from Arts Council England as part of their National Portfolio Fund. This currently covers 83% of the cost of our core work and basic running costs.

Additional funding from trusts and foundations enables work which benefits new, emerging and established writers and engages with a variety of communities, offering people from marginalised groups a space to discover how literature can lift feelings of isolation and give them the opportunity to share their voice with the wider community.

But our continued success depends on us generating income from a variety of sources, including our own community. Trusts and Foundations will rarely fund core or running costs of an organisation, so we need your help.

  • £100 would fund a place for a low-income writer at one of our Writing School courses.
  • £30 would fund venue hire for a Write Here residency.
  • £10 would support a young person attending a Young Writers’ Group session.

For every pound we raise, the donation is doubled by the Arts Council catalyst fund, which means that even a small donation makes a big difference.

We believe that writing gives people a voice, and we want to help as many people as possible in the East Midlands find theirs.
