Writer Biography

Anne writes poetry, fiction and screenplay. Her work centres much around memory and family. In 2011 she was awarded a full Arvon Grant and attended ‘writing for stage’ at Lumb Bank. She is currently developing her playwriting skills as she sees this as a natural progression in her career as a writer.

Having graduated with Distinction from Nottingham Trent University’s Creative Writing MA programme, Anne was commissioned to write and perform a piece for Write Way Up, as part of Lyric Lounge Leicester, then worked with a group of young mothers alongside Aly Stoneman for Lyric Lounge Nottingham.

In October 2010, Anne was invited by founder Deborah Stevenson, to attend The Mouthy Poets, a collective of young people who write, perform and coordinate spoken word events. She performed alongside them at Nottingham Playhouse and in 2011 Deborah invited her to co-facilitate the group. She continues to work with, and be inspired by them.

She has worked in schools and colleges, teaching writing skills, promoting reading for pleasure and was one of the tutors on the Short Course programme run by Nottingham Trent University’s School of Art & Design.

She believes that everybody has the ability to express themselves through words and that this can promote confidence in all areas of life.
