Writer Biography

Becky Deans is a Derbyshire writer with an MA in Creative Writing from UEA. She published her first novella, Exposé, in 1999 (UEA texts series) and has short stories and poems in various publications. She also runs a successful copywriting business. Her interests include power dynamics in relationships, the use of dialect and writing from alternative viewpoints. She currently runs a successful writers’ group in Ripley, Derbyshire. As a saxophonist with a diploma in saxophone performance, she is currently bringing together her music and writing skills and exploring song writing.

    I currently run a successful monthly writing group in Ripley, which includes critique of a member's work each month. As a saxophone teacher with a ABRSM diploma in saxophone performance, I have nine years' experience of working with adults and young people. I have strong experience of reading my work at university and recently in local venues.
