Writer Biography

I am a short story writer and have published 2 story collections, The Siren of Salamanca(2008) and Gondwanaland (2013). I worked for some time in the 1980s as a freelance playwright, with professional productions at Derby Playhouse and Croydon Warehouse. I’m not currently writing for theatre but am specialising in the literary(but not too literary!) short story. I have won several short fiction prizes. I write for readers, not for critics and view myself as an entertainer rather than a heavily literary person. I still have an interest in theatre, however and am pen to opportunities.

I have an adult teaching certificate, but am not specifically interested in teaching at the moment.
I am also on the Speakers List in Derby, though mainly do talks on silent movies, TV sitcom and a couple of other writers(Opal Whiteley, and Nella Last, both of whom were essentially diarists).
I am happy to give talks on writing, as well as readings, but only in the Derby area, and preferably daytime only.
