Writer Biography

Darren graduated in Drama from the University of Lincoln (Lincoln School of Performing Arts) in 2009. His dissertation study focused on the body language and body signs of a performer. He directed several productions whilst at University, including a production of Caryl Churchill’s Cloud Nine and Sweeney Todd, the original George Dibdin Pitt version of the Victorian melodrama, which played at the newly opened Lincoln Performing Arts Centre as the centrepiece of a major Conference exploring Victorian Melodrama in May 2008. His first written play, Going Down, premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2008, in collaboration with theatre producer Andy Jordan.

His first play for 4FRONT Performance Company was J, D and Coke, which showcased for one night only, at the Lincoln Drill Hall in January 2009 and sold out. This play launched the beginning of 4FRONT Performance Company, of which Darren is the Artistic Director. Since this time, Darren has directed ‘Going Down’ for the second time which toured nationally 2009/10 and has also directed 4FRONT’s ‘The Double Bill’ 2010. He has recently directed ‘Fragments’, a devised piece of physical theatre which showcased at the European House of Arts Culture Festival, June 2010.
