I was born and brought up in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where I did bachelors degrees in English and Japanese and a Master’s of Fine Arts in poetry. My first book, Music for Landing Planes By, was published by Milkweed Editions in 2007. A second is forthcoming in 2011. My poems have appeared in Prairie Schooner, Diode, Barrelhouse, and other journals; a short story was published in The Rake and later anthologized. I now live in Nottingham, where I am a doctoral candidate in Critical Theory.
