Writer Biography

For over ten years now I’ve been a published writer of fiction, having written two long historical thrillers (‘Auriel Rising’ and ‘Music of the Spheres’) published by Random House (UK) and Penguin (US). A third is in preparation.
‘Auriel Rising’ is still in print: ‘Music of the Spheres’ (2002) is being reprinted in a new edition by Penguin next year, and has so far been published in translation in 21 countries. It was no. 1 in Hatchards, Piccadilly, for 3 weeks and was also in the USA Today bestseller list. I’ve not won any prizes, but both books received many excellent reviews (eg New York Times, USA Today, the Guardian, the Times, Literary Review, etc. etc.)

I also write shorter Regency romances for Harlequin Mills and Boon. My ‘big’ books are rather dark, so I enjoy being able to write happy endings for a change!

I always welcome the chance to meet other writers and to be able to pass on any advice to those who are entering the world of writing fiction. I am happy to talk to writing groups, or to lead creative writing sessions (for previous appearances at festivals etc see ‘Performances and Workshops’).
