I’m a dramaturg, director and theatre maker working in and around the East Midlands. I graduated from the University of Bristol in 2009 with a first class degree in drama and then worked at The Bristol Old Vic as their Company Assistant Director for the show to re-open the theatre in March 2009.
Since then I have worked dramaturgically, on a freelance basis through my theatre company – 6016 Theatre, for Manchester Royal Exchange, Nottingham Playhouse, The Theatre Writing Partnership, New Perspectives Theatre Company and professional director Jonathan Munby; was the Literary Manager on a small-scale regional new theatre festival; written plays, reviews and articles; directed shows, performed as a street theatre and live artist and worked as a journalist for, among others, IdeasTap, LeftLion and the TWP.
As a writer I fall into three camps: as a playwright – primarily of absurdist work or adaptation of foreign texts; as a theatre journalist writing reviews and conducting interviews; and, finally, as an academic again concerning myself with absurdist theatre – often that of Ionesco.
I am keen to discuss my theatre writing with people and am very experienced in appraising play scripts – a role in which I am employed by Manchester Royal Exchange, Theatre Writing Partnership and Nottingham Playhouse.
