Writer Biography

I have always written, making up stories when I was younger and then starting (but never finishing!) many novels in different notebooks as I grew up.
Over the last few years I have started to write more seriously. I have an MA in Creative Writing from Nottingham Trent University (which I passed with distinction) and have recently completed the novel that I started whilst on the course. This novel is women’s commercial fiction, and was longlisted for the Mslexia Novel Competition. I am currently re-drafting and improving it, with the help of my writers’ group, which I attend every two weeks.
I have also written numerous short stories and poems. I won the Melbourne Festival Creative Writing Prize in 2009, and was shortlisted for the Derby Telegraph short story competition in the same year. One of my stories also appears in the NTU anthology Kapow, which I helped to edit, publish and launch.
I am now trying to rasie my writer profile by getting more short stories out into the public domain, whilst continuing to develop my novel before beginning to submit it to agents. I plan to write more novels in the future, possibly sequels to the one I am now working on, as I have become extremely fond of its characters, and would like to follow their journey further into the future!
