Writer Biography

Helena Pielichaty (pronounced Pierre-li-hatty) has been a published children’s writer since 1998. Her first book, ‘Vicious Circle’ was included in the Book Trust’s Top 100 books for children published that year. ‘Simone’s Letters’ was nominated for the Carnegie Medal. Author of over twenty five books for children, she has lived in Nottinghamshire since 1985.

    Qualified as a teacher in 1977. Left teaching to concentrate on her writing career in 2000.
    Has visited hundreds of schools and libraries throughout the UK and abroad.

    Currently involved in ‘Reads United’ a project with author Tom Palmer, a football based performance aimed at encouraging boys and girls to read for enjoyment. See website for details.
