Writer Biography

Judith Allnatt is a poet, an acclaimed short story writer and novelist. Her first novel, A Mile of River, was a Radio 5 Live Book of the Month and was shortlisted for the Portico Prize for Literature; her second novel, The Poet’s Wife, was shortlisted for the East Midlands Book Award. Short stories have featured in the Bridport Prize Anthology, the Commonwealth Short Story Awards, and on BBC Radio 4. Her third novel, The Moon Field, set in the First World War, will be published in January 2014. She lives with her family in Northamptonshire, lectures widely and is working on her fourth novel.

    I have taught creative writing over a period of 17 years, most recently at the University of Buckingham. I regularly teach workshops freelance on poetry, short fiction and the novel and I am happy to tailor workshops to clients’ requirements. Other experience includes giving talks and readings at literary festivals and readers’ days, being involved in panel discussions, mentoring at writers’ conferences and judging writing competitions. I have a BA in English Literature and am a member of the Society of Authors, the Royal Society of Literature and the National Association of Writers in Education.
