Kate Delamere
Writer (stage, radio, print and screen)
Kate Delamere is a former journalist for national newspapers, magazines and TV, who now writes drama for stage, radio and print.

She has worked on projects for Northampton’s Royal and Derngate and Leicester’s Haymarket and Phoenix theatres. Play that’s Parent’s for You! was staged at Northampton’s Royal and Derngate theatres in June 2008. She has had a range of fiction from poetry to comedy monologues published in anthologies as well as written comedy drama produced on radio. She held the post of writer in residence at four theatres in Lincolnshire for Theatre Writing Partnership in 2007-8 and was associate artist at Northampton’s Royal and Derngate Theatres in 2007/8.


Selected Publications

February 2010 – Selected as one of 16 professional writers for North West scheme WritersLab to work with production companies AbbottVision, Red Productions, Lime Pictures, BBC Writersroom, LA Productions, Made In Manchester, R.S.J. Productions to develop an original script, along with team writing and producing. Six part crime drama series mentored by Richard Fee at Red Productions in Manchester.

March 20th, 2010 – Public reading at De Montfort University in Leicester, independent publisher’s open day.

June 2008 – That’s Parents For You! – Play staged at Northampton Royal and Derngate Theatre.

April 2006 – Team writer of comedy radio soap The Willows produced by Carillon Radio.

Jan 2006 – Comedy monologue Happy Families produced by Crystal Clear.

July 2005 – Co-writer on play about gun crime commissioned for Leicester’s Haymarket and Phoenix theatres

    From March 2007 – September 2008 I was writer in residence for Nottingham-based Theatre Writing Partnerships, attached to four theatres in Lincolnshire, also Morton Hall HMP, Lincolnshire.
    Facilitating lectures, workshops, performances, individual tutorials, preparation and staging performances for festivals.

    From October 2007 – June 2008. Teaching stage-writing through performance-lead workshops to undergraduates and postgraduates at Lincoln University.

    October 2007-April 2008. Associate artist at Northampton’s Royal and Derngate, devising a play through workshops with local youngsters.

    I currently work as a part-time lecturer in creative writing at Leicester, De Montfort and Worcester universities. I continue to work as a freelance journalist.
