Ashbourne Young Writers’ Group

Ashbourne Young Writers meets monthly at Ashbourne library led by Sian Tower.

Sessions take place on a Tuesday evening, 4.30-6:30pm.

The Juniors group is for Y4, Y5, Y6 and Y7’s and the Seniors group is for Y8, Y9, Y10 and Y11.

Bursary Places

We offer a number of bursary places for all groups. Enquiries are dealt with in the strictest confidence and awarded to those with limited financial means. If you are in receipt of any kind of benefits, you could qualify. Please get in touch as soon as possible as an application may take a few days to process.

About the Lead Writer

Sian Tower

Sian Tower is Writer in Residence at Carsington Water for its 25th anniversary year. Her poetry has won prizes at The Derbyshire Literature Festival, The Buxton Poetry Competition and has been Highly Commended by many magazines including the Cinnamon Press. She recently won an Arvon prize and her work featured in the Derbyshire Libraries’ Poetry Project. Her novel, CROW made the 2017 shortlist of the Penguin Random House’s Write Now programme and just won her a place on the 2018 Writing East Midlands Mentoring Scheme. Sian runs regular reading and writing groups for 7-70+ across the Peak District.
